Upcoming Shows

Today I started making some replacement parts for my installation Choreography that I will be showing in the Corrine Woodman Gallery of The Art Center in Corvallis in May. It will be a 3D poem...so much fun. I'll post the details later.

This week my show with Rachel Urista starts at Studio 262, Rachel's work is amazing and the space is gorgeous, I feel really lucky to be part of this show, I hope you can come see it if you are in the area!

I finished my piece for the Art with a Musical Heart Auction event at Studio 262. It was quite a challenge and I feel I learned a lot. I chose to interpret the design from the original "quilt" literally and add in words from Duke Ellington's "It don't Mean a Thing." Wellllllll it turns out it was really difficult to make an interesting piece out of music staves and text. For a while I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to pull it off but the fact that I was obligated to finish the piece and that I wanted it too be good in order to raise more money for the cause motivated me to keep trying. I had to wreck the painting first and then bring it back to life. The hard part was coming up with the right color combinations.I painted over each part of this so many times. I like how it turned out.

Varied Thrushes

 

I saw three Varied Thrushes in Forest Park yesterday and then I saw two more at a rest area on  my way down I-5 so I did a couple studies today.

This last photo is a Varied Thrush and an Oregon Junco. I am experimenting with the idea of painting head shots of birds. That their eyes are on the side of their head makes it a little challenging so far.
